We visited Jordan for two weeks across September and October, enjoying the cooler weather that makes it an ideal time to explore.
Our itinerary included visits to the capital city of Amman, the Roman ruins of Jerash, the ancient city of Petra, the desert landscapes of Wadi Rum, the unbelievably buoyant Dead Sea, and the mosaic-rich town of Madaba.
We thoroughly enjoyed taking in the vibrant culture and savouring the delicious local cuisine; it’s a country we would happily return to.

Additionally, Amman serves as an ideal base for day trips to nearby attractions like Jerash and Madaba, allowing visitors to enjoy a blend of city life, countryside, and rich history.
Petra
Petra is a highlight of most itineraries in Jordan, and for good reason. Walking through the narrow Siq to see the Treasury appear before you is truly a once-in-a-lifetime experience. In addition to this iconic view, Petra is home to numerous tombs, temples, and viewpoints that can easily fill a couple of days if you’re willing to explore on foot.
Wadi Rum
If Petra is steeped in history, Wadi Rum offers otherworldly landscapes. Imagine endless stretches of red sand, towering rock formations, and clear night skies. Whether you choose to explore by jeep, on foot, or even on camelback, it’s a place that makes you feel wonderfully small in the grand scheme of things.
Dead Sea
