The Ultimate 2-Week Jordan Itinerary: A Day-by-Day Travel Guide

Experience the best of Jordan in 2 weeks, from Amman and Petra to Wadi Rum and the Dead Sea. This itinerary covers ancient wonders, stunning landscapes, and unforgettable adventures.

This post is an outline of how we spent our two weeks in Jordan. We’ve created in depth posts on each area which are linked within to help tie all our Jordan posts together.

We would recommend an absolute bare minimum of one week in Jordan, but that’s because we loved it so much!

So, what did we get up to in two weeks?

Amman

  • Day 1

Flew from London Luton to Queen Alia International Airport – landed around 21:10

After navigating the visa queue and passport control, we got a taxi to our accommodation

Checked into Wild Jordan Center around midnight and had a refreshing smoothie before turning in for the night

  • Day 2

Enjoyed breakfast with a view at Wild Jordan Center

Delved into history at the Jordan Museum which had some fascinating exhibits

Meandered through the centre of Amman and stumbled upon a vibrant local souq

Rested up at a little café before exploring Rainbow Street’s delicious cuisine

Ended the day relaxing on our balcony, taking in the stunning view of Amman Citadel

  • Day 3

We caught an Uber up to Amman Citadel taking in the history and the views

Strolled down the hill to the Roman Theatre and took in The Folklore Museum, Jordanian Museum of Popular Traditions and the Odeon Theatre

Got a taxi back to Wild Jordan Center where we had a great dinner and relaxed

  • Day 4

Took an Uber to Jerash – a must-visit for its amazing ruins – highly recommend spending a good amount of time there

An unexpected highlight was being interviewed by Sky News Arabia as we were leaving

Hopped in a taxi to Ajloun Castle but found it underwhelming after Jerash

Finished the day with a mouth-watering kebab on Rainbow Street and an evening wander through Amman’s centre

Wadi Musa

  • Day 5

We took an Uber to pick up our rental car, ready to begin the next leg of our journey

We had to take the opportunity to stop at a viewpoint to take in the stunning landscapes

Made a stop to explore Kerak Castle

Checked into our accommodation in Wadi Musa and settled in for the evening

  • Day 6

Spent the day exploring Petra, starting with the Main Trail through the siq leading to the famous Treasury.

Hiked the Al-Khubtha trail which ended with stunning views of the Treasury from above

Continued to the Monastery trail – a tough but rewarding hike.

We limped our way back into Wadi Musa for dinner at My Mom’s Recipe Restaurant

  • Day 7

We started our day at The Petra Museum, learning more about the ancient city of Petra

Went back into Petra, walking the Main Trail once again before exploring some of the tombs we missed the day before

Left Petra fairly early and strolled into Wadi Musa for a late lunch

Wadi Rum

  • Day 8

We drove from Wadi Musa to Wadi Rum Village where we parked up at the camp office

Hopped in the back of a 4×4 and explored some iconic landmarks in the Wadi Rum Protected Area

Stopped for a tasty lunch, and a nap in the shade to escape the afternoon heat

Continued on with more landmarks, we tried out sandboarding and ended the tour sipping Bedouin tea as the sun set

Arrived at camp and enjoyed a traditional zarb dinner before relaxing around the campfire

  • Day 9

Started with breakfast before setting off to explore less-touristy spots

First stop was an amazing secluded viewpoint before taking in Kufic inscriptions and a number of ancient petroglyphs

Admired views toward Saudi Arabia from Wadi Sabet viewpoint followed by another great lunch in a shady canyon

Visited an unexpected rainwater well and then took in a gorgeous sunset with Bedouin tea

Returning to camp, we had much needed showers and a tasty dinner

  • Day 10

We spent five hours riding camels through the desert where we got to walk up dunes and take in more petroglyphs along the way

Stopped for a packed lunch in the shade, but we could have done with the usual nap before setting back out into the blistering heat

We arrived back to camp before anyone else so we spent time just chilling on our terrace before dinner

Dead Sea

  • Day 11

We left our Wadi Rum camp and drove north along the Dead Sea highway

Stopped in at the Museum at the Lowest Place on Earth then popped to a restaurant up the road for lunch

Checked into our villa and took some time to relax

  • Day 12

We walked across to Holiday Inn Dead Sea in the morning for a day pass

Spent some time floating in the Dead Sea, coating ourselves in the mud, and just relaxing

Headed back to our villa to relax in the pool

  • Day 13

We took on Wadi Mujib – our first ever canyoning experience – which saw us navigating rushing water and towering canyon walls

Spent the afternoon unwinding back at the villa with a refreshing swim in the pool

Closed out the day with a wonderful meal at Beit Sweimeh

  • Day 14

Started the day with breakfast at Beit Sweimeh

Headed Mount Nebo, where we enjoyed sweeping views of the Jordan Valley

Continued to Madaba, where we admired mosaics and soaked in the rich history of the city

We wrapped up our Jordan adventure with a drive to the airport for our (delayed) flight home
